Today is Kartik Purnima – the whole of India celebrates this day, regardless of religion✨
There is a legend in the Vedic texts of Kartik Purnima Katha:
The three demons Vidyunmali, Tarakaksha and Viryavana, collectively known as Tripurasur, conquered the universe, destroyed the gods, and built the three cities of Tripura in space.
On Kartik Purnima, Lord Shiva killed Tripurasur and destroyed his cities with a single arrow, ending his short reign. When the other gods found out about this, they rejoiced and declared this day a festival of light, which is also called Dev Deepavali, or Diwali for the gods.
✨ On the same day, several other events are celebrated:
➡️ Birthday of Vrinda – the sacred plant Tulasi.
➡️ The birth of Lord Vishnu in the form of a fish, Matsya.
➡️ Birthday of Lord Shiva’s son Kartikeya.
If you fast and perform rituals on Kartik Purnima, you can achieve harmony in all areas of life: moral (Dharma), material (Artha), sensual (Kama) and spiritual (Moksha). Today is moksha kaal also.
